Administrative History
The National Coalition on Older Women's Issues was founded by Marjory G. Marvel in 1981. Its purpose was to link advocacy focused on aging and advocacy focused on women’s issues. The coalition brought together a broad spectrum of diverse groups including church groups, civic and professional organizations, education centers, research centers, and women’s organizations. The main areas of focus of the coalition were employment, retirement income, and health care. Other founding members included Charlotte Conable, Maxine Foreman, Pat Reuss, and Peg Downey. Marjory G. Marvel served as president of the organization from its founding until 1988, when the organization was dissolved.
