Scope and Content Note
The records of the National Coalition on Older Women's Issues span the years 1967-1997, with the bulk of the material dating from 1979 to 1990. The records are in English and are organized into five groups: administrative file, financial records, membership, subject file, and miscellany.
The administrative file follows the organization's history from its incorporation in 1981 to its dissolution in 1988. Material relating to bylaws, committees, elections, and membership meetings is included. Financial records consist of budget planning and fundraising through a variety of grant projects. Application forms and mailing lists reveal that membership was available to both individuals and organizations.
The subject file comprises the bulk of the collection. Correspondence, printed matter, and reports cover topics relevant to older women such as aging, financial independence, adult education, employment, and health care. A portion of the miscellany section includes production material for a resource directory published by the organization.
