Acquisition Information
The papers of Frances Benjamin Johnston, photographer and illustrator, were given to the Library of Congress in a series of donations from the 1920s to the 1950s and were transferred to the Manuscript Division from the Prints and Photographs Division in 1960-1962, 1991, and 2008.
Processing History
The Johnston Papers were preliminarily arranged circa 1962. The collection was prepared for microfilming and a new guide was created in 1982. Items transferred from the Prints and Photographs Division in 1991 and 2008 were added to the collection in 2010, a box number was changed, and the finding aid was revised.
Microfilm
A microfilm edition of part of these papers is available on thirty-seven reels. Consult reference staff in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase or interlibrary loan. To promote preservation of the originals, researchers are required to consult the microfilm edition.
