Acquisition Information
Part I of the papers of Elliot L. Richardson, U. S. Cabinet officer, politician and lawyer, of Massachusetts, was given to the Library of Congress by Richardson between 1977 and 1987. Part II was received in 1992. Part III was given in three parts in 2000 and 2001.
Processing History
The Richardson Papers were processed in 1990 by Allan Teichroew and expanded by Brad E. Gernand in 1994. The finding aid was revised in 2010. Part III was processed and the finding aid expanded and revised by Karen Linn Femia with the assistance of Thomas Bigley, Jeffrey Bryson, and Dan Oleksiw in 2012. The digital file was processed and the finding aid revised in 2014.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Videotapes and audio recordings have been transferred to the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. Some photographs have been transferred to the Library's Prints and Photographs Division. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the Elliot L. Richardson Papers.
