Provenance
The records of Harper's Magazine were given to the Library of Congress by Harper & Brothers and succeeding publishers: Harper & Row, Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company, and Harper's Magazine Foundation. The first gift of records was made in 1944; subsequent gifts have been made through 1983. A small addition of nineteenth century records was given to the Library by Yale University in 1981.
Processing History
The records of Harper's Magazinereceived prior to 1972 were processed and made available for research in increments from 1950 to 1972. Those records constitute Part I of the collection. Records received after 1972 were organized and described as Part II in 1994. The finding aid was revised in 2010.
