Scope and Content Note
The papers of Bronson Murray Cutting (1888-1935) span the years 1890-1950, with the bulk from 1910 to 1935. The collection consists of personal correspondence, some of it extending beyond his lifetime; correspondence relating to Cutting's activities in New Mexico from 1910-1928, including material relating to his publishing activities; and his investigation of corruption in the state. Also in the papers are correspondence and general files accumulated during his service in Washington, D.C., as senator from New Mexico, 1928-1935. Much of the senatorial material relates to banking, congressional campaigns and an election dispute with Dennis Chavez, veterans' claims cases, constituent affairs, and other legislative issues. Included also are biographical files and printed material focusing on Cutting's political career. Correspondents include Harold L. Ickes, Ezra Pound, and Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919).
