Acquisition Information
The manuscript collection of Joseph Meredith Toner, physician, author, and collector, was given to the Library of Congress between 1882-1896. Additional manuscripts and personal papers were added by bequest and a biographical file was transferred to the Manuscript Division from the Collections Management Division in 1983.
Processing History
The Toner Collection of Manuscripts was processed by Daniel Y. Gilham in 1959 and expanded and revised by Robert Doyle in 1984. The finding aid was revised in 2011.

A microfilm edition of part of this collection is available on two reels. Consult reference staff in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase or interlibrary loan.
