Provenance
The papers of Robert S. McNamara, United States secretary of defense, president of the World Bank, and corporate executive, were given to the Library of Congress by McNamara in a series of gifts from 1996 to 2009. An addition was given by John Earl Haynes in 2009.
Processing History
Part I of the papers of Robert S. McNamara was arranged and described in 2009. Material received in 2009 was processed as Part II in 2010.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Some photographs have been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. Audiotapes and videotapes have been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the Robert S. McNamara Papers.
