Administrative Information
Acquisition Information
The papers of Zbigniew Brzezinski, foreign policy advisor, political scientist, educator, and author, were deposited in the Library of Congress by Brzezinski in 2003. Additional material was deposited by him between 2005 and 2013 and by his estate between 2017 and 2021.
Processing History
Part I of the Zbigniew Brzezinski Papers was arranged and described in 2004 by Laura J. Kells with the assistance of Donna Ellis, Nan Thompson Ernst, Dan Oleksiw, Jewel Parker, and Chanté R. Wilson. Additional material received between 2005 and 2009 was processed as Part II in 2009 by Margaret McAleer. Material received in 2012 and 2013 was processed as Part III in 2014 by Connie L. Cartledge with the assistance of Tracey Barton, Thomas Bigley, Maria Farmer, Regina Frackowiak, Sherralyn McCoy, Nicholas Newlin, Kimberly Owens, and Carolyn Ray. Material received between 2017 and 2021 was processed as Part IV in 2023 by Chad Conrady with the assistance of Kimberly Owens.
Digital files were received as part of the Zbigniew Brzezinksi Papers on a variety of storage media, each of which was assigned a unique digital ID number. Use the digital ID number to request access copies of the files associated with each media. A description of the standard processes taken on all born digital records can be found in the Processing History Note: Born Digital Collection Material at https://hdl.loc.gov/loc.mss/eadmss.digital. Unprocessed born-digital material from Part II and Part III was processed and included in Part IV, excluding those bags already described in Part III. The collection of born-digital items included several floppy disks formatted and used on Apple System 6 and OS 9 operating systems. A forensic disk image of these disks was created and the files exported from the disk image. Using the Mini vMAC or Sheepshaver emulating programs, the files were accessed and reviewed.
