Provenance
The papers of John H. Wheeler, historian, diplomat, and public official, were given to the Library of Congress by Woodbury Wheeler in 1900. An addition was purchased in 1933. Series II of the collection consisting of additional scrapbooks was transferred to the papers from the general collections of the Library in 1973.
Processing History
The Wheeler Papers were housed and listed prior to 1970. The finding aid was revised in 2001 and again in 2010. Containers 10-13 and 20-22 were filmed in 1975. Containers 1-4 were reproduced in a separate microfilm edition in 1976. The finding aid was revised in 2011.
Microfilm
A microfilm edition of part of these papers is available on seven reels. Consult reference staff in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase or interlibrary loan. To promote preservation of the originals, researchers are required to consult the microfilm edition as available.
