Provenance
The papers of Brand Whitlock, author, lawyer, diplomat, and mayor of Toledo, Ohio, were given to the Library of Congress by his wife, Ella Brainard Whitlock, from 1936 to 1938. Additional items were given by James L. Brainerd in 1948 and by the Lovejoy Library, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, Ill., in 1984.
Processing History
The collection was processed in 1956 and expanded circa 1985. The finding aid was revised in 2011.
