The papers of Henry L. Dawes, United States representative and senator from Massachusetts, were given to the Library of Congress in 1931 and 1932 by his daughter, Anna L. Dawes. Additional material was received from the estate of Anna L. Dawes between 1940-1944 and as a gift from the William R. Perkins Library, Duke University, in 1987.
Processing History
The papers of Henry L. Dawes were arranged and described in 1962. An addition of a letter from Dawes to S. D. Brooks, dated 1861, was interfiled in the General Correspondence in 1987. The finding aid was revised in 2012.
