Scope and Content Note
The papers of Lillian Everts (1898-1960) span the years 1933-1956, with the bulk of the material dating from 1949 to 1956. The collection contains correspondence, a literary file, and printed matter. The correspondence is comprised of incoming letters from friends, associates, and the public and includes clippings, advertisements for her works, invitations, and requests for her poetry. Correspondents include Lucien Banville d'Hostel, Aïa Bertrand, Abel Doysié, Raymond Duncan, Robert Hillyer, Edwin Markham, Leonora Speyer, and Louis Untermeyer. Also of interest in the correspondence are sketches on a letter and envelope sent by artist Edward C. Caswell in April 1953. The literary file contains poems sent to Everts by others as well as printed poems by Everts. There are copies of both the correspondence and the literary file in a file of photocopied material. The printed matter consists of radio scripts, invitations, clippings, and programs from poetry readings.
