Provenance
The papers of Edward McPherson, editor, statistician, and U.S. representative from Pennsylvania, were obtained by the Library of Congress through purchase and by gift of Donald P. McPherson, Donald P. McPherson, Jr., and John Bruce McPherson, 1907-1944. Some material relating to Thaddeus Stevens was subsequently transferred to the Thaddeus Stevens Papers in the Manuscript Division.
Processing History
The papers of Edward McPherson were arranged and described in 1965 and 1969 and revised in 1982. The finding aid was revised again in 2011.
