Scope and Content Note
The records of the National Child Labor Committee (U.S.) span the years 1904-1953, with the bulk of the material concentrated in the period 1904-1934. The collection consists of reports, speeches, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks containing form letters, press releases, and newspaper clippings. Included are reports on child labor conditions in various industries and minute books of meetings of the National Child Labor Committee (U.S.) and the National Committee on Federal Aid to Education. Also in the collection are a file of general correspondence of Alexander J. McKelway, secretary for the Southern States of the National Child Labor Committee; and two letters from Franklin D. Roosevelt.
