Scope and Content Note
The papers of James Louis Robertson (1907-1994) span the years 1869-1982, with the bulk of the material concentrated in the period 1928-1982. The collection consists of correspondence, diaries, speeches, writings, subject files, genealogical material, newspaper clippings, and other papers relating primarily to Robertson's service as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Included is material pertaining to the U.S. Federal Banking Commission and the U.S. Federal Open Market Committee, diaries of Robertson's father, Andrew J. Robertson, and a draft of Robertson's book, What Generation Gap??? A Dialogue on America (1970). The collection is organized into seven series: Diaries, Personal Correspondence, Subject File, Speeches and Writings File, Organizational File, Miscellany, and Addition.
