Acquisition Information
The papers of Douglas Southall Freeman were given to the Library of Congress by his wife, Inez Freeman, in 1955. Additional items were given by Mary Tyler Freeman Cheek in 1980 and Pat Munroe in 1996.
Processing History
The collection was arranged and described in 1957 by Joseph Vance. An addition was processed and the finding aid expanded in 1980 by Manuscript Division staff. The finding aid was revised by Jeffery Bryson in 2013. Another addition was processed and the finding aid revised by Nate Scheible in 2023.
