Acquisition Information
The papers of May Robson were given to the Library of Congress by her son, Edward Gore, from 1944 to 1947. Additional items were given by Elizabeth B. Callender in 1989 and transferred from the Library's Prints and Photographs Division in 2003.
Processing History
The papers of May Robson were inventoried by Elizabeth G. McPherson in 1944. The collection was processed and the finding revised by Brian McGuire in 1980. The finding aid was revised again in 2012. Additional material was processed and the finding aid revised by Laura J. Kells in 2024.
Transfers
Film stills, portraits and stage portraits, and a set of playing cards have been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division where they are identified as part of the May Robson Papers, and an inventory of a portion this material is available in their finding aid. Patrons are encouraged to contact the Prints and Photographs Division in advance of a research visit.
