Acquisition Information
The papers of Robert R. Hitt, U.S. Representative from Illinois, were given to the Library of Congress by Mrs. William F. Hitt in 1962. Items relating to Hitt had been given previously by Seymour Robb, director of Carol M. Newman Library, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, in 1961, and additional material was donated by Emery Herteleny in 1965.
Processing History
The papers of Robert R. Hitt were arranged and described in 1966. The finding aid was revised in 2012. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Rachel Telford as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.
Transfers
Photographs have been transferred to the Library's Prints and Photographs Division where they are identified as part of the Robert R. Hitt Papers.
