Provenance
The papers of Marquis James, author, were given to the Library of Congress in 1958 by his widow, Jacqueline James. An addition of a microfilm of an original diary in private hands was reproduced by the Library in 1965.
Processing History
The James Papers were processed in 1959 and expanded with the addition of microfilm of a diary in 2003. The finding aid was revised in 2013.
Transfers
Original issues of the Chicago Ledger have been transferred to the Library's Serial & Government Publications Division where they are identified as part of these papers.
Microfilm
A microfilm edition of part of these papers is available on one reel. Consult a reference librarian in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase or interlibrary loan. To promote preservation of the originals, researchers are required to consult the microfilm edition.
