Provenance
The papers of George Fort Milton, editor, historian, advisor to diplomatic delegations, consultant to U.S. government agencies, and special assistant to U.S. Secretary of State Cordell Hull, were given to the Library of Congress by Helen S. Milton and Alice Milton Dwight between 1957 and 1964. Additional items were given by others between 1936 and 1998.
Processing History
The papers of George Fort Milton were processed in 1958. The collection was revised and expanded between 1960 and 1966, and a small addition was made to Part II in 2015. The finding aid was revised in 2005 and 2013, and again in 2015.
Transfers
Sound recordings have been transferred to the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division where they are identified as part of these papers.
