Scope and Content Note
The papers of Frank Lester Greene (1870-1930) span the years 1895-1930 and consist of correspondence, diaries and miscellaneous personal material, reports, legislative files, printed matter, financial papers, maps, photographs, and other material. The collection is organized according to the descriptions provided by the donor into five series; Correspondence , Military File , Vermont File , Legislative File , and Personal Miscellany .
The papers pertain mainly to Greene’s career as United States representative and then senator from Vermont, but include family and personal material as well as correspondence relating to his editorship of the St. Albans, Vermont, Daily Messenger. Most significant are military files from his membership on the Military Affairs Committees of the House and Senate. Also in the collection are political campaign files from 1900 to 1928.
