Administrative Information
Acquisition Information
The papers of Agnes Elizabeth Ernst Meyer, author and social activist, were deposited in the Library of Congress in 1972 by her children, Elizabeth Meyer Lorentz, Eugene Meyer III, Katharine Graham, and Ruth Meyer Epstein. This material was converted to a gift in 1976. Additional papers were given by her children, their estates, and other sources, 1971-2014. The collection includes electrostatic prints reproduced by the Library from originals removed from the papers at the request of the donors and forwarded to Yale University and Princeton University in 1974.
Processing History
The papers of Agnes Elizabeth Ernst Meyer were processed by C. L. Craig and Paul Ledvina between 1972 and 1985. The finding aid was revised in 2014. Additions received between 1995 and 2014 were arranged and described as Addition III in 2023 by Elizabeth Livesey. At this time, five containers of duplicative printed matter (original boxes 188-192) were removed from the Miscellany series as well as duplicates from the Speeches and Writings series. Objects and other oversize material were rehoused and stabilized and extraneous items removed. Box numbers were updated to account for consolidation of material.
