Administrative Information
Acquisition Information
The papers of Agustín de Iturbide, Mexican soldier and emperor, were purchased by the Library of Congress 1911-1912.
Processing History
The papers of Agustín de Iturbide were organized before their receipt by the Library by David Fergusson, representative of the Iturbide estate, whose arrangement and description has been largely maintained. The collection was rehoused in 1942, microfilmed in 1972, and rehoused a second time with new container numbers in 1977. In 2013, the box numbers from the 1942 housing, which appear on the microfilm, were added to the container list to aid researchers using the microfilm edition of the collection and the finding aid revised by Karen Linn Femia. In 2022, a Spanish translation of the Abstract and Scope and Content Note was provided by Emilia Schrier.
Microfilm
A microfilm edition of these papers is available on eighteen reels. Consult a reference librarian in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase or interlibrary loan. To promote preservation of the originals, researchers are required to consult the microfilm edition.
