The World War II Prisoners of War Letters were loaned to the Library of Congress in 1944 by Marion Hale Britton, publisher of the American National Red Cross Prisoners of War Bulletin. The Library duplicated the letters and returned the originals to the Red Cross between 1944 and 1965
