Biographical Note
William Dawson was an Anglican clergyman, a commissary of the Bishop of London, and a member of the Virginia Governor's Council, A graduate of Queen's College at Oxford University, he was the second president of the College of William and Mary, 1743-1752. Dawson died on July 20, 1752. His brother, Thomas Dawson, served as fourth president of the College of William and Mary, 1755-1760.
