Acquisition Information
The papers of Mary Marvin Breckinridge Patterson were received as a transfer from the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division of the Library of Congress in 1990. Additional items were received by the Library as a bequest from Patterson's estate between 2003 and 2019. Supplements were given via transfer by the Library's Prints and Photographs Division in 2004.
Processing History
The papers of Mary Marvin Breckinridge Patterson received between 1990 and 2008 were arranged and described in 2018 by Connie L. Cartledge with the assistance of Tracey Barton, Rosa Hernandez, and Kimberly Owens. Additional material received in 2019 was processed in 2020 by Connie L. Cartledge with the assistance of Rosa Hernandez. Some items in the 2020 addition have undergone mold remediation.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Some photographs have been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. Sound recordings and films have been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. Two book safe volumes were transferred to the Rare Book and Special Collections Division. All transfers are identified as part of the Mary Marvin Breckinridge Patterson Papers. Patrons are encouraged to contact these divisions in advance of a research visit.
