Scope and Content Note
The papers of the Naseef and Page Family span the years 1880 to 1936, with the bulk of the material dating from 1893 to 1923. The collection documents the family's life in the American Colony in Jerusalem at the turn of the century, as well as their close friendships and familial relationships with extended Page relatives in America.
The collection consists predominantly of correspondence sent from American Colony members Otis Page and his daughter, Florence "Flora" Page Naseef, as well as Flora's husband Fareed, sister-in-law Fareedy, and children Herbert and Tubena Naseef, describing their daily life in the American Colony and Palestine. The letters, postcards, and Christmas cards in the collection were sent to Otis's sister Josephine Page Towle (1849-1929) and her daughters Florence "Floss," Frances "Frankie," and Jessie Towle. The collection also includes photographs produced by American Colony photographers, picture postcards, the betrothal announcement of Florence and Fareed Naseef, and ephemera. Included are two lace samples, including a lace collar produced at the American Colony and sent from Fareedy Naseef to Jessie Towle in 1910.
