Acquisition Information
The papers of Leonard Wood were deposited in the Library of Congress by his wife, Louise Adriana Wood, between 1932 and 1943 and were converted to a gift in 1975. Other gifts and purchases were added from 1929 to 1978.
Processing History
The collection was organized prior to 1960 and expanded in 1983. The finding aid was revised in 2012. Katherine Duvall converted the finding aid to EAD in 2022.
Photographs in containers 316, 328, 330-332, 334, and 340 were withdrawn from the collection in 1953 by Wood's daughter, Louise B. Wood, and are no longer available. Containers 239-282, 284, and 287 were removed from the collection in 1987 after microfilming and are now only available on microfilm.
Microfilm
A microfilm edition of part of these papers is available on 25 reels. Consult reference staff in the Manuscript Division concerning availability for purchase and interlibrary loan. To promote preservation of the originals, researchers are required to consult the microfilm edition.
