Scope and Content Note
The papers of Kevin Bohn span the years 1979-2020, with the bulk of the material dating from 1980 to 2016. The collection documents Bohn's thirty-year career as a producer with the CNN Washington Bureau. The collection is arranged alphabetically by subject.
The collection consists of material on the launch of CNN as well as productions Bohn worked on and his supplemental research. Documents include promotional materials about the early years of CNN, such as write-ups on original lead anchors, show schedules, and press releases about event coverage logistics. Also included is a January 2, 1992, memo incorrectly announcing the death of President George Bush, which led to major changes in CNN internal policies related to information distribution. Material of note includes Bohn's production and research files, such as press packets and research on investigations of terrorist attacks in the United States, scripts for interviews with prominent political and historical figures, and documents for the production of the Newsmaker weekend talk shows with executive producer Elissa Blake Free.
