Provenance
The papers of John Von Neumann, mathematician, atomic energy commissioner, and educator, and Klara Dan Von Neumann, pioneer computer programmer, were given to the Library of Congress, 1974-2012, by his daughter Marina Von Neumann Whitman. An addition was received in 1993 from brother Nicholas A. Vonneuman. Other gifts and a purchase were received between 1998 and 2005.
Processing History
The Von Neumann Papers were arranged and described in 1992. Additions were made to the collection in 1993, 2002, and 2014.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. A video recording has been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. Glass negatives were transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the John Von Neumann and Klara Dan Von Neumann Papers.
