Most of the items in this collection were given by Waltraud Szeryng, Henryk's widow, in 1990. Other materials have been received from Gerhild Baron, Andree Desautels, Angela Lalauni, Gilles Lefebvre, and Marie-Anne de Valmalete.

Processing History
Elaine Phelps processed the Henryk Szeryng Collection in 1992. George Kipper coded the finding aid in 2010. Janet McKinney edited the finding aid from June 2020 through December 2022.
Transfers
Books that relate to Szeryng's musical interests and/or contain noteworthy inscriptions have been retained in the collection, and the remaining books have been transferred to other divisions within the Library.
Sound and video recordings from the Henryk Szeryng Collection have been transferred to the Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. An inventory of this material is available in the Music Division's collection file.
