Custodial History
In 1970, two cartons containing a collection of autograph manuscripts of contemporary composers were given to the Library of Congress by Joseph A. Fischer, president of the J. Fischer & Bro. music publishers. This gift was the largest shipment of materials to the Library from the J. Fischer organization, which had a tradition dating back to the early 1950s of donating music manuscripts and related materials to the Library.
