Scope and Content Note
The J. Fischer & Bro. Music Publishers Collection consists of autograph manuscripts of music used for publishing purposes and dating from 1950 to 1970. The majority of the manuscripts are choral works, both sacred and secular, many with piano or organ accompaniment. In addition, original works for organ and piano are included, as well as piano and organ transcriptions. Most of these works were published by Fischer & Bro. music publishers.
Notable composers whose works are represented here are Jean Berger, Joseph Clokey, Paul Creston, Garth Edmundson, Robert Graham, Charles Haubiel, Camil Van Hulse, Philip James, Theron Kirk, Austin Lovelace, George Frederick McKay, Howard D. McKinney, Richard Purvis, Kathryn Hill Rawls, Carlo Rossini, Royal Stanton, William Grant Still, Homer Whitford, David H. Williams, Pietro Yon, and Gordon Young.
The collection is arranged in alphabetical order by composer or arranger. The container list includes name of composer or arranger, title, genre, and format.
