Processing History
The Society for American Music Records were processed by Nancy Seeger from 2012-2013. In 2013, Seeger created the finding aid with assistance from Robin Rausch.
Transfers
Archival audiovisual materials that contain content related to the Society for American Music have been transferred to the Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division, where they are identified as part of the Sonneck Society Collection (MAVIS collection no. 14886). In addition, the archive contained published print and audiovisual subventions for which the society provided funding. The books have been cataloged and transferred to the Library of Congress Music Division's general collections; and the audiovisual materials were transferred to the Library of Congress Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division. An inventory of the archival audiovisual materials and the subventions is available in the Library of Congress Music Division's collection file.
Issues of American Music, Sonneck Society newsletters and bulletins, and membership directories that came with the archive were bound separately, cataloged, and are shelved in the general collections of the Music Division. Bibliographic records for these publications may be found in the Library of Congress online catalog.
