Scope and Content Note
The Louis Monchick Collection of Theater and Dance Programs dates from 1918 to 1974 with the bulk spanning from 1930 to 1957. The collection consists of programs and playbills for theater and dance performances in New York City and the Washington, D.C., area. The most common genres represented are contemporary comedies and dramas. Musical theater, variety shows, and a few film screenings are also documented, along with ten programs for ballet companies of international distinction. Ancillary items retained by Monchick, such as cast-change notices or promotional flyers laid in with the programs, are also present.
