Summary | The Bronislava Nijinska Collection documents the life and professional activities of Bronislava Nijinska, a choreographer, dancer, and teacher who lived and worked in Europe, Argentina, and the United States from 1911 until her death in 1972. The collection was created by Nijinska with additions by her daughter, Irina Nijinska, and Irina's husband Gibbs S. Raetz. Material types include business papers, choreographic notes, correspondence, personal papers, photographs, posters, programs, scrapbooks, theatrical designs, and writings. Subjects include Nijinska's extensive work as a choreographer and revivals of her work, her roles as a dancer, and her writings on dance. There is a significant amount of material on her brother, dancer and choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, as well as companies she worked with including the Ballets de Madame Ida Rubinstein, Ballets Russes de Serge Diaghilev, and the companies founded by the Marquis de Cuevas. |
