Biographical Note
Burk Uzzle began his photojournalism career in the 1950s as a staff photographer for the News and Observer, in his hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. This early work quickly led to subsequent assignments for Black Star Photo Agency, as well as Life, Rolling Stone, and GEO magazines. In 1967 he became a member of Magnum Photos, serving as President from 1979-80.
