Processing History
The Alfred Bendiner Memorial Collection (Library of Congress) was processed by Prints and Photographs Division staff between 1982 and 1996. This record contains unverified data from old container lists transcribed by Erin Ebert. The original container list created by Library staff previously used the out of date term "Afro-American" to refer to Black people, and this language was updated by Maggie McCready in August 2020. Finding aid encoded by Maggie McCready in September 2020.
The Alfred Bendiner Memorial Collection consists of works created by Alfred Bendiner and works created by other artists and collected by Bendiner. The prints and drawings came to the Library of Congress in a series of gifts from Alfred Bendiner's widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Bendiner, and her estate, as well as from the Alfred and Elizabeth Bendiner Foundation. The collection was accessioned by the Prints and Photographs Division in 20 groups between 1982 and 1995.
