Biographical Note
David Plowden (b. 1932), a noted documentary photographer and author, graduated from Yale University in 1955. As a boy, he photographed trains, and his early work captured the last years of steam locomotives. As a self-employed photographer, he "made a career of being one step ahead of the wrecking ball." He presented his images in his own books (about railroads, barns, bridges, small towns, steel, and the American landscape) and in other publications and many exhibits.
