Scope and Content Note
The collection contains original drawings, newspaper clippings, and graphic display items which document the decades-long career of Diana Denny. Included are caricatures of famous and historically significant people in the twentieth century and one drawing depicting the trials at Nuremberg after World War II. Denny depicts leading, mostly American, politicians in the late 1940s into the early 1960s. These include memorable portrayals of Nazi and American generals of WWII, world leaders, U.S. presidents, actors, writers, athletes, among others. The collection includes strong or unusual portrayals of Emperor Hirohito, Raúl and Fidel Castro, Hermann Goering, and Winston Churchill as well as images of prominent women such as Eleanor Roosevelt, Pat Nixon, and Evita Perón.
