Study collection of 18th and 19th-century American book illustrations and portrait prints

Arrangement

The collection is arranged by size into two series, "Smaller Prints" and "Larger Prints." The first series, Smaller Prints, includes engravers whose largest print is smaller than 11 x 14 inches. The second series, Larger Prints, includes engravers whose largest print, or the sheet it is mounted on, is smaller than 14 x 18 inches. Within each series the prints are arranged alphabetically by the name of the engraver with unidentified engravers at the end. Prints filed under an engravers' name haven't been researched to confirm they are actually by that engraver rather than by another engraver with a shared name.
