Among the Oboler papers are a number of folders originally labeled “Correspondence,” some of which date from Oboler’s radio career in the 1930s and 1940s. Of interest are letters to and from radio and film stars such as Boris Karloff and Bette Davis, fan mail to Oboler, and material related to Oboler’s Mutual Broadcasting System radio work in 1945. Correspondence from later dates is not as well organized and, characteristic of the “catch-all” nature of the Oboler papers, contains diverse materials on topics such as union membership, income taxes, travel, real estate, and product warranties and guarantees.
Materials from the early period of his career are among the best organized files of the collection, retaining their original arrangement, alphabetical by subject (including, for example, radio program titles) or correspondent, and within folder chronological, reverse chronological, or alphabetical by correspondent.
