BOX 48-55 Part II: Family Papers, 1872-2018
The Family Papers series primarily consists of correspondence with members of the Kris, Rie, Bondy, and Nunberg families, and also contains miscellany belonging to individual family members. A folder of family trees documents the extensive relationships between different branches of the Kris and Rie families. Material from Anton O. Kris and Anna Kris Wolff includes correspondence with their parents, Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris, as well as some of their general correspondence. Also included with Anna Kris Wolff's papers are two oral history transcripts, one with Ralph Gifford and Paul Gifford about their family memories and father, Sanford Gifford; and another by Anna Kris Wolff about her own memories with the Kris family.
Material types include correspondence, personal documents and other biographical material, oral history transcripts, sketchbooks, a cookbook, a travel diary, printed matter, and photographs.

The Personal File predominantly contains biographical material that provides an overview of Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris's lives and careers. It includes awards, certificates and licenses, curricula vitae, identification and immigration documents, household and estate records, material relating to their deaths, and miscellany. Of note is a transcript of an interview with Marianne Kris, conducted in 1980 by sociologist and psychoanalyst Nancy Chodorow, in which Kris discusses her background and career, her relationship with other contemporary psychoanalysts, and the role of women in the field of psychoanalysis.

The Photographs series contains a mix of candid snapshots and formal portraits of members of the Kris, Rie, and Freud families, as well as the Krises' friends and colleagues, chiefly other prominent psychoanalysts. There are a significant number of photographs of Ernst Kris, Marianne Kris, and Anna Freud, both individually and with others at public and private events and gatherings. Dorothy T. Burlingham is featured most often in photographs related to Anna Freud. This series also contains digitized footage of Sigmund Freud's 100th Birthday Celebration in London, England, originally recorded in 1956 on 8mm film, along with digitized still images of the event. Suspected nitrate negatives have been removed from their original locations and placed in a separate box for preservation purposes; all other negatives are in their original locations and not separately identified. Researchers should be aware that photographs exist in other series within the collection and were retained within those files to maintain appropriate context.
Material types include prints, negatives, and scrapbooks. Some material is in digital format.
