The Region II series documents the activities of the Northeast regional office of the NAACP, which oversaw the branch chapters and state conferences in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont, and branches located on American military bases in Germany, Italy, and Japan.
Arranged into two subseries.

The Branches subseries documents the activities and administration of local branches, state conferences of branches, the New England area conference, the European conference, and various branches located on American military bases in Germany, Italy, and Japan. Files related to international branches primarily date from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. The material does not reflect a comprehensive account of the activities and administration of every branch as the amount and type of documentation varies widely among branches. Recurring subjects and materials include complaints against branch leadership, election disputes, fundraising, events, requests for legal aid, resolutions, membership, local news stories, branch bylaws, charter applications, and financial reports.
Material types include correspondence, newsletters, convention and event programs, meeting minutes, notes, photographs, reports, and news clippings.
Arranged alphabetically by state, country, or area, and alphabetically by name of branch or conference thereunder.
