			The General Office File documents the work of the regional office as a whole, as well as the office files of regional directors Paula Brown Edmé and Hilda M. Rodgers. The subseries comprises material related to the annual convention, regional conventions and meetings, requests for legal aid, members and membership campaigns, the Afro-Academic Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO), the High-Tech and Diversity Job Fair, and branch administration. Also present are subject files covering topics including education, housing, health care, marches and demonstrations, policing, and social security, a name file which largely comprises other staff members across the NAACP, and files related to various organizations with which the Northeast office collaborated. Correspondence primarily includes outgoing memoranda and letters related to the planning of various conferences, meetings, and programs. From 1996 to 2001, Northeast regional director Paula Brown Edmé oversaw both Region II and Region VII (the Mid-Atlantic region comprising Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia), and thus a significant number of Region VII materials are found throughout the subseries. In most instances, this is noted in the container list, but such files may also be found elsewhere in the subseries in other folders dating from 1996 to 2001. Material types include reports, memoranda, correspondence, notes, clippings, photographs, and printed matter.
