The files primarily pertain to the AAAS committees in which Commoner was most active: the Committee on the Social Aspects of Science, the Committee on Science in the Promotion of Human Welfare, and the Committee on Environmental Alterations. These particular AAAS committees worked to engage scientists in public policy issues such as radioactive fallout from nuclear weapons testing, air quality, and energy consumption. Also present are files on annual meetings, the board of directors, budgets, and AAAS publications. Prominent correspondents include Chauncey Leake, Margaret Mead, Ward Pigman, and Dael Wolfle.
