BOX 260-286 Leadership File, 1985-2009
Primarily material from Pelosi's campaigns for leadership positions and the assumption of leadership positions in the House of Representatives, but also includes files concerning duties and activities of leadership, such as committee assignments, member services, and as Speaker, her role in the State of the Union address and parliamentarian procedure. Several binders of correspondence and related information document legislative priorities of Pelosi's Speakership. The file includes correspondence, speeches, handwritten notes by Pelosi, telephone call logs, staff memoranda and binders, House vote polling, press coverage, invitations, photographs, and other memorabilia from swearing-in ceremonies. Files pertaining to Pelosi's predecessors in leadership positions are also contained in this series and include files created by Thomas Foley in his role as Speaker of the House between 1989 and 1995, and files from House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt dating between 1989 and 1991.

Documents include correspondence, briefing material, issue files, legislative activity guides, reports, financial material, itineraries, schedules, floor statements, floor operations, and travel files.
Organized alphabetically into nine subseries: Appropriations, Committees and Caucuses, Congressional Delegations,Congressional Working Group on China, Floor Operations, Floor Statements, Issues File, Legislative Activity Guides, and Staff Files.
BOX 286-367 Appropriations, 1983-2011
The Appropriations subseries includes papers from Pelosi's work as a member of the Appropriations Committee as well as her work to obtain funding for various projects, especially items of importance to her home district in San Francisco. The process of allocating government funds by yearly fiscal budgets is documented in the correspondence and memoranda with members of Congress, various organizations, California government officials, executive branch officials, other committee members, and with Pelosi staff members. Many of the documents were organized into binders designated as "Projects," "Programs," or by one of the Appropriations subcommittee names. The Appropriations subseries also includes folders titled "Pelosi campaign for committee membership" relating the Congresswoman's 1988 and 1990 lobbying of House members for an appointment to the powerful Appropriations Committee. Material dating from 1983-1987 originated in Sala Burton's office, Pelosi's predecessor from the 5th Congressional district of California.
Arranged by fiscal years. Files from a fiscal year date from the year before, when requests are made and considered, to the year of the fiscal year, when supplemental appropriations are determined.
