The Personal File is composed of family and personal papers, family and miscellaneous photographs, and files on awards and activities not connected to Pelosi's congressional duties. Associations include the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees, the Botanical Garden Board of Trustees, and the National Italian American Foundation. Conferences include G.L.O.B.E., and the Bilderberg Meetings. Artifacts and photographs of Pelosi with no clear connection to another file have been gathered into this series. The photographs file includes images from events, with staff, and with notable figures and world leaders. Artifacts are all housed in the Oversize series. A small set of family papers includes correspondence from Pelosi's children and grandchildren, materials pertaining to a family trip to Africa and other family events, newspaper clippings, tributes to her mother and father, and photographs of Pelosi and her brothers as children. Many of the photographs and clippings in the family papers relate to Pelosi's father, Thomas D'Alesandro, former congressman and mayor of Baltimore, Maryland.

Papers concerning political campaigns, fundraising trips and events, political messaging for the Democratic party, material from the Democratic National Conventions, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. As a member of the House leadership, and while positioning herself to run for a leadership position, Pelosi raised campaign money nationally and distributed funds to many Democratic members of Congress. The series also includes material pertaining to various California political issues including the 2003 recall election of Governor Gray Davis and the resulting governorship of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Correspondence, briefing books, financial and fundraising material, contacts lists, notes, and printed matter.

The series contains communications put out by Pelosi's office, editorials by Pelosi, news clippings about Pelosi, press conference and interview transcripts, and files relating to Pelosi’s memoir Know Your Power which contain publicity, reviews, and a draft of the opening. Most of the mailers include newsletters and information sent to constituents focusing on individual issues such as social security, education, and healthcare. Similar to the mailers are the “Facts by Fax” press releases, news, and related documents that were faxed to constituents between 1996 and 2000. Staff files, especially those from communications directory Brendan Daly, focus on messaging, outreach, and communications strategy. Files contain clippings, mailers, press releases, statements, tributes, editorials, press conference transcripts, talking points, interviews, press contacts lists, and Pelosi website information.
