This series contains files related to the parent company of the Washington Post. The bulk of the series contains the publication “Company Behind the News,” which provides a monthly review from 1983 to 2000 of achievements and initiatives of various Washington Post Company subsidiaries including the Washington Post newspaper, Newsweek magazine, and various television stations. The series includes photographic slides of staff members taken for the 1977 Washington Post Company annual report. A limited number of agreements between the Washington Post Company and the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild from 1956 to 1983 are in the series. There are also files related to the recycling company Capitol Fiber and the Robinson Terminal warehouse.

The Digital Files series documents many of the Washington Post’s public relations activities, including videos and photographs of events, awards, and staff celebrations. These largely consist of videos and photographs of the Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Awards, Distinguished Educational Leadership Awards, Eugene Meyer Awards, Marine Corps Marathon Healthy Kids' Fun Run, “Paths to Success: A Forum on African-American Men,” and other Washington Post sponsored events. Commercials and videotaped features from news outlets after Mark Felt was revealed to be “Deep Throat” are also within the series. Staff members featured in videos include Agnes E. Meyer, Eugene Meyer, Katharine Graham, Herbert Block, and Boisfeuillet Jones. The digital files do not include any documentation of Washington Post web content.
